WebYmmv but personally I opt for shorter for a tree/bump board, i really don't feel you lose stability in more open higher speed situations, but you gain a lot of maneuverability and nimble turning for the tight stuff. I had the same decision to make for my K2 Excavator at 5'10 160 10 boots. I went down to 150 and haven't regretted it for a second.
